Ending Sunday Services at Highrock Cambridge

| June 7, 2025

It has been a privilege to serve with you

Dear Highrock Cambridge Community,

As you know, several months ago, Pastor Dave and the Highrock Executive Team initiated a series of conversations focused on the future of mission at Highrock Cambridge. We gathered groups of folks at Highrock Cambridge to discuss, discern, and pray together. Our Executive Team has been deeply encouraged by the testimonies of God’s faithfulness to this community, we’re encouraged by your love and passion for each other, and we’re grateful for all the ways that you have embodied Highrock’s values of curiosity, courage, and compassion throughout this process.

We are so thankful for LeLe’s sacrificial love and leadership of the Cambridge Campus over the last five years, and are excited for her next phase of life, as she follows God’s leading. We look forward to celebrating and blessing her as she moves into her next season of life and ministry during the worship service on June 29th. We also give thanks for the Campus Leadership Team- particularly Alexis and Reuben- who have served in prayer, discernment, advocacy, and care over the past year plus.

The Executive Team, LeLe, Pastor John and Cambridge’s Campus Leadership Team has been weighing new possibilities over these last few months in tandem with Highrock Cambridge’s own conversations. We knew we’d need dedicated leadership, a critical mass of folks who were excited about this mission, and the facilities that would allow growth and mission to happen well. As pieces of the puzzle continued to become clear, we’ve made the decision to conclude Sunday services at Highrock Cambridge and wind down organized congregational gatherings after Sunday, June 29th. While we had certainly hoped for a different outcome at the outset of this several-month discernment process, it’s become clear that we currently do not have the capacity to adequately support, equip, and staff Highrock Cambridge going forward.

We recognize what a loss this will be, not just for the current congregation at Highrock Cambridge, but also all those in Cambridge who might have found new life and hope through Highrock’s witness to the Gospel. We both grieve and lament the reality of all of our own limits in this season, and in that spirit of lament, recognize that God is still at work in our midst. We remain thankful for the new life and healing that God has brought about through this community. It has been a blessing to see the Spirit at work in Highrock Cambridge, to see lives transformed and restored. This is both a testament to God’s goodness but also your faithfulness and love.

It’s to that end that we remain hopeful about what God will do in Cambridge, both through the folks from Highrock who remain rooted in the community, and other faithful Christian communities. Highrock leadership, and Pastor Dave in particular, are passionate about seeing the Gospel lived out in the city of Cambridge, so even as this expression of Highrock closes, we remain open to the possibilities that the Spirit may invite us into in the future. If you are interested in future possibilities for Highrock mission and ministry in Cambridge, please reach out directly to Pastor Dave (dave@highrock.org).

We want you to know that your pastors, John, Robert, Meghan, Scott, and Dave, are still available to you in the future. If you want to meet for prayer or conversation, we’d love to hear from you. We’d also love to encourage your small group if you continue to meet together- please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Over the next weeks, you’ll see the WhatsApp channel evolve to create easy opportunities for folks to check out other Cambridge churches or Highrock Arlington together, or to stay connected for social and spiritual connection. We’ll take time at the Annual Members’ meeting to give thanks and pray for Highrock Cambridge, and we’ll have a special service of blessing and sending on June 29th for the whole congregation.

We realize we can’t address every detail or question in this email, however, Pastors Meghan and Taylor will be available this Sunday after worship if you have questions or concerns. The following Sunday, June 15th, Pastors John and Meghan will be available after service as well.

Highrock Cambridge, you are loved. It has been a privilege to serve with you all.

With love, sadness, and gratitude,

Highrock Executive Team
