Take Another Step to a Deeper Faith

Hi Church,

This fall, we’re inviting everyone into something simple but transformative:
To slow down, return to Jesus, and become more like Him—together.

What Is It?

Beginning October 5 through November 23, we’ll launch an 8-week church-wide journey called Practicing the Way, based on the book and study by John Mark Comer. The Highrock teaching team will be preaching through this theme on Sundays, and we’re forming study groups to help each of us live it out.

When & Where?

Sundays after service (during Soul Food): Grab lunch and join a group for about 75 minutes.
Midweek (Online): If your schedule’s full on Sunday, we’ll offer a Wednesday night Zoom group as well.

What’s It About?

This study centers on four core movements of discipleship:

Be with Jesus – Learning to live in His presence
Become like Him – Letting Him shape who we are
Do as He did – Living as Jesus would if He were you
Live in community – Growing together, not alone
Though the book explores these four movements, the course expands into eight focused sessions that walk us deeper into real-life spiritual practices.

Why This Study? Why Now?

We live in a culture of distraction, pressure, and hurry. Without even realizing it, we’re often formed more by culture than anything—and then try to squeeze Jesus into the margins of our lives.

But what if we flipped that?

What if we became intentional apprentices of Jesus—letting His way become our way, and letting Him form us for the sake of the world?

As Comer puts it:

“Without intentional spiritual formation, cultural formation will win by default.”

Why Join a Group?

Study groups aren’t just about learning—they’re about growing. Together.
They give us space to:

wrestle with Scripture
ask real questions
encourage one another
practice what we’re learning
This is how the early church grew—through shared life and mutual formation.

Ready to Join?

We’d love to help you find a group that fits your schedule.

Calling All Techies!

Hey, Church!

Have you ever caught someone in your family messing around with sound equipment… tweaking the TV volume like it’s a science… or showing suspiciously impressive skills on a computer or iPad?

We want you to rat them out.

That’s right. We’re on the hunt for low-key audio/visual wizards, button-pushers, slider-sliders, and behind-the-scenes heroes who can help serve and lead on our Worship Technology Team on one or two Sundays a month.

This includes:

  • Sound (digital mixing board—don’t worry, we train!)
  • Slides/ProPresenter (clicking through lyrics & sermon points)

No experience? No problem.

If someone is willing, faithful, and can learn a few basics—we’ll equip them! Middle schoolers, teens, adults… we’ll take ’em.

How to Volunteer (or Rat Someone Out)

  1. Reply to this email and say, “I’m in!”
  2. OR email me directly to nominate a tech-savvy friend, spouse, child, neighbor, or that one cousin who rebuilt your WiFi at Thanksgiving.

We’re building a team where people can grow in skill, serve quietly but meaningfully, and help lead others in worship—just from the back of the room.

Thanks for helping us to find the unsung (or, yet soon-to-be-sung) heroes!

Grace & gratitude,

-Pastor Robert
