Practicing the Way: A Fall Journey of Spiritual Growth at Highrock

Summer’s in full swing, with many of us soaking up sun and water before the crisp fall evenings arrive. Highrock pastors and staff are no exception, taking time off with family before the new program year begins. As August unfolds, we’re also shifting our focus, praying about how our fall plans can align with God’s vision. At Highrock, everything we do is about helping people connect with God personally, with God’s people, and with God’s higher purposes. What will that look like this fall?

On October 5, we’re launching a new sermon series, Practicing the Way, inspired by John Mark Comer’s book of the same name. Comer offers a compelling vision of Christian discipleship, showing that following Jesus means being with Him, becoming like Him, and doing as He did through intentional spiritual practices. The book blends deep theology with practical steps, inviting us to slow down and make space for God’s transformative work.

Our powerful preaching team will lead weekly sermons over eight weeks, paired with weekly small group experiences to explore the series’ themes and practices. These groups are the “secret sauce,” where you’ll engage with the material, share insights, and adopt new practices to deepen your spiritual growth. At Highrock MetroWest, we’re forming new small groups—both in-person and on Zoom—to welcome everyone into this fall experience.

New Sermon Series!

This Sunday, Pastor Richard Lee will preach in our sermon series, “David: The Life of a Complicated King.” His sermon A Time to Kill? is based on selected verses from 1 Samuel 24:1-7.

Practicing The Way! Starts in September

Transform Your Faith This Fall with Practicing the Way!

At Highrock MetroWest Church, this September marks the start of something special—a journey called Practicing the Way. It’s not just a program; it’s an invitation to walk closer with Jesus, to let His presence shape your heart and guide your steps. On Sunday, September 14, after worship, we’ll gather for a SoulFood picnic, filled with laughter, good food, and the warmth of togetherness. It’s the perfect way to kick off this eight-week adventure.

Starting the week of October 5, we’ll dive into eight spiritual practices spread over eight weeks—each one a stepping stone to be with Jesus, become like Him, and do as He did. Every Sunday, our sermons will bring these practices to life, while small groups, both new and familiar, will meet throughout the week to explore them together, sharing stories, questions, and growth. By November 23, as we wrap up this eight-week journey, we’ll pause to reflect, celebrate, and look ahead with follow-up activities that keep the momentum going.

This Fall could be a season of transformation—a chance to deepen your faith, discover new rhythms, and draw closer to Jesus in ways that linger long after the leaves have fallen. So, mark your calendar. Join us for the picnic on September 14, come to the eight Sundays that follow, and sign up for a small group to journey with others.
